The Crisis of Younger Clergy in the UMC: Young Clergy and Candidates Speak Out
The number of elders age 35 and under has fallen nearly to the record low recorded 15 years ago, erasing a decade of progress. The Lewis Center of Wesley Theological Seminary invites you to a panel discussion where young clergy and candidates will explore the motivations, challenges, and needs of younger people pursuing a call to ministry.

Panelists:

Andrew Davis is a newly ordained elder in full-connection in the California-Nevada Conference of the United Methodist Church. Andrew is a 2016 Wesley M.Div. graduate currently serving Community UMC in Quincy, California.

Eun Jin "Jinny" Kim is an M.Div. student at Wesley preparing for ministry as an elder. She currently serves at Eden Korean UMC in Baltimore, Maryland.

Ivan Milosi is a 2019 Wesley M.Div. graduate ordained as an elder. He currently serves at Lakin First UMC in Lakin, Kansas.

Haley Hamblin is an M.Div. student at Wesley preparing for ministry as a deacon. She currently serves at Capitol Hill UMC in Washington, DC.

This conversation will be moderated by F. Douglas Powe, Jr., the Director of the Lewis Center for Church Leadership.

Oct 21, 2020 12:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)
